We focus on five steps to help connect the skills we teach to the game: technique, executing skills at game speed, then against pressure, and finally within game situations. The final step is performing the skills in an actual game. In all stages of development, we discuss and practice the mental approach to peak performance and game success.

Focused on overall Skill Development
At GRIT Basketball, we focus heavily on a player’s overall skill development & offensive ability. We key in on all fundamentals of the game and open the players mind to ways he/she can approve their games. The ball handling, finishing, passing and footwork throughout our camps, clinics, individual, small group and team clinics training can create a foundation and provide an experience that can take a player and program to a whole other level.
Focused on the Mental Approach to the game:
At GRIT Basketball, we focus a lot on a players mental approach to the game of basketball. How a players mentally approaches each game is vital to the performance level that the player or players can bring. We believe that a players level of aggressiveness, assertiveness and activity directly effects how impactful a player will be on the court for his or her team, and we call this a players ATTACK RATE. Having a high attack rate is vital to how impactful a player is on the game, recognition as an elite or valuable player, a players efficiency rating, a teams success, as well as many other parts of their athletic performance. Having a high attack rate comes natural for some, and those are the players that overachieve and get recognition, and some others that may be as talented, as athletic, works just as hard might fall through the cracks if they never understand and develop this. Creating a high attack rate is something that can be developed, and here at GRIT basketball Training we will show you how.
At GRIT Basketball, we teach mechanics of shooting, finishing, footwork, ball handling and much more. But we don’t stop there. We make sure our players know when, where and how to use those new skills in game situations. (See our 5-step methodology.) We constantly teach and help players understand the processes of improving as an overall player and person, and help young players understand the value of hard work, perseverance, being mentally tough and having a great attitude.
Shooting & the Pro Shot Shooting System
At GRIT we are obsessed with researching and studying the best players, and best player development techniques, especially when it come to shooting. We constantly stress to our players how important we believe shooting is within this game and at the same time we believe the skill is a very under taught and misunderstood fundamentally. There are a lot of good trainers and programs out there and we are all about connecting players, parents and coaches to the best information out there. Our shooting philosophy is based on the Pro Shot Shooting System. Pro Shot is a shooting program that teaches players and teams the techniques used most consistently by the world’s top shooters. The system focuses on six areas of the body to produce accurate, rhythmic and quick shooters (known as the FOREST). There is not a shooting system in the world that will improve a player’s mental and physical shooting skills as quickly as the Pro Shot System.
Game Ready Intense Training (G.R.I.T.) is not for everyone. A player may like the game of basketball but that’s not enough. To play at a high level, he or she must set high goals and train hard consistently. This requires an exceptional work ethic, a commitment to daily practices, and, most important, an open mindedness to learning, improvement and change while developing their basketball skills – This is both a physical and mental commitment and task.
Learning the mechanics of shooting a basketball properly is only one step in becoming a great shooter, especially in a game situation. Shooting hundreds of outside shots with a passer is great but can you do it at game speed? Under pressure? In practice? In a game? If not, what’s holding you back?
To make shots in a high-pressure game situation, you have to constantly improve your overall shooting mechanics, understand how to develop new mechanics into habits, practice executing in game situations, at game speed, against defenders and then the most important part, perform to your highest potential in a game. We believe the foundation of this growth and development is having a high Attack Rate, an Attack 1st mindset. Most players when working on shooting and coaches when teaching shooting don’t have the direction and foundational understanding of shooting mechanics to improve their shooting. And thats where we come in!!
5 Step Methodology

1. Technique and mental approach
Whether you’re working on your outside shot using the Pro shot shooting system, or a floater in the lane, or the Euro-step in transition, proper mechanics and mental focus is a must. Both your mental and physical game need to be practiced. We’ll show you how. |

2. At Game Speed
Shooting, dribbling, and other skills do you no good if you can’t do them at game speed. But you also shouldn’t practice at game speed until you have the mechanics correct. And that’s where GRIT Basketball comes in! |

3. Against Pressure Defense
You excel at all the drills, flawless in your execution. Put an intense defender on you and how do you do? If you don’t practice against pressure, you won’t be able to perform against pressure. |

4. In Game Situations
Now that shooting technique is almost flawless you’ve practiced and performed well at game speed against pressure, you have to know when and where to use what you’ve learned. We not only demonstrate the techniques, we show you when to use them. In a game, not in a gym. |

5. GAME READY! Attack first mentality!
The key to positively impacting a game’s outcome is having a HIGH ATTACK RATE as an individual and as a team. Why put in the hours working on shooting techniques, at game speed, against pressure and in game situations if you only do it in practice? And to achieve a high attack rate, you must have an “attack first” mentality. At GRIT Basketball, our ultimate goal is to prepare you both physically and mentally so you are Game Ready and have the confidence to do what you’ve learned where it counts… in a game!
